In mid-August Harrah’s became one of three casinos to be approved for a $10 million license that will allow the casino to offer online poker, online table games and online slots.
Given parent company Caesars Entertainment’s online gambling presence in other states, the Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino is shaping up to be a force to be reckoned with in the online gambling world. Caesars currently operates Harrahs Online Casino, Caesars Online Casino and WSOP.com in New Jersey. The brand also has an online poker presence in Nevada with WSOP.com.
Caesars Entertainment will likely partner with 888 for online poker software. For their online casino, Harrah’s seems like they will partner with either Scientific Games or 888, with the later being a brand that has a storied history since online gambling’s infancy. It’s so a brand which has worked with Caesars in regulated markets since the early 2010s.
Caesars Entertainment is in the enviable position of having a few successful brands to work within
Despite the Harrahs name attached to the casino in PA, it is expected that WSOP.com and Caesars Casino will be among the brands offered when games go live.
The World Series of Poker brand may be one of the most recognizable names in all of poker. Even casual fans of poker have heard of the WSOP from its frequent streams on ESPN during the summer. In addition to its recognition as poker largest tournament events, the brand is also making a name for itself online.
Not only is WSOP.com a popular poker room to play online poker for play money through PlayWSOP.com, but it’s also the number one online poker room in Delaware, Nevada and New Jersey. Add this to the fact that, the three states all share a player pool via WSOP.com and it makes it a no-brainer.
All of this makes WSOP.com a likely candidate to be the top online poker site to go from Harrah’s Philadelphia. Bottom line: As recognizable as Harrah’s may be in Pennsylvania, it doesn’t hold a candle to WSOP.com
For an online casino, it would be hard to imagine Caesars would abandon its Harrah’s Casino brand for Pennsylvania, but its possible they may favor the brand of its parent company. In New Jersey, the casino operates both Caesars Casino and Harrah’s Casino, which is another reason it would be surprising to see Caesars favored.
You can be sure that whatever brand Caesars chooses that when the state of Pennsylvania gives the final go-ahead that they will one of the first online casinos or poker rooms to market. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board must authorize licenses by a deadline in October and November for two other license applications.
That puts a possible launch as early as the last three months of 2018 or into early 2019.
The Harrah’s Philadelphia poker room is located just 10 minutes south Philadelphia International Airport. It is a multi-purpose entertainment complex that includes a luxury casino and racetrack. The poker offering is located on the 3rd floor in the old block space, and is attached to its new sports book and TopGolf experience. Given the proximity of the room to the site’s other gambling attractions, the familiar sounds of slot reels and jangling coins fill the air as you play. The Harrah’s Philadelphia poker room regularly spreads around 28 tables of action to a diverse gambling community. It also offers text to table food service through its new app for players.
Harrah's Philadelphia has a tournament schedule that routinely produces big daily fields, and periodically runs its Diamond Delight multi-flight event. To coin a phrase often used at the venue, it is “welcome to Harrah-dise” for Philadelphia-area tournament players. If looking for cash-game action, you will not be disappointed. No-limit hold’em aficionados are able to play between limits of $1-2 and $10-25 on a regular basis, while the limit gurus can hop in from $2-4 to $20-40. Seven-card stud, pot-limit Omaha and limit Omaha hi-lo are also available.
Harrah’s Philadelphia operates the Total Rewards loyalty card program that is enjoyed by regulars at all Caesars-owned venues in the United States. Earned comps can be banked for use at other Caesars properties, or exchanged right away for tableside food delivery, slot credits, and more. All drinks are complimentary to all players.
